Worlds Apart

She sat on a chair in

The hospital waiting room

Hoping for good news,

Two seats away from where he’d been

Only an hour before

And he stepped into her favorite

Coffee shop to get out of the rain

Buying the drink she always bought

On Thursday afternoons
